About Us

ReachYourEverest.Com has been created to motivate you to achieve more in your life. By sharing the training, preperation, planning and then the attempt to climb the highest mountain in the world - Mt Everest, we hope that you too can be inspired to also climb your own Mt Everest.
John Kazanas has spent the last 18 years in outdoor pursuits ranging from hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing and skiing. He has climbed through out Victoria and in New Zealand as part of his climbing apprenticeship. In 2003 he climbed the highest mountain in New Zealand (Mt Cook – 3,745 meters) less than 12 months before being introduced to rock climbing and in 2006 reached 6,900 meters on Mt Pumori Nepal (opposite Mt Everest) but abandoned his summit bid to assist in the life saving rescue of two Sherpas and one climber. After 18 months of training, on May 25th, 2010, John summited Mt Everest - the highest mountain in the world.
John has spent up to 33 continuous hours on mountaineering routes and during that time he has observed the affects dehydration, food and sleep depravation on his body and mind. Over the years he has gained great skills in nutrition management and preparing for physical and mental exhaustion events.
On most weekends you will find John either rock climbing, mountain biking, cycling, skiing, hiking or exploring some of Victoria’s most remote areas.
John has worked as volunteer mentor for the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) through their Bright Sparks mentoring program since 2006. He has devoted his personal time to help young people to achieve their career goals by using a variety of techniques including goal setting, visualisation methods, effective conflict management, improved communication skills and pro-active career management.
Working in marketing, communications and sales for the last 15 years, John has held a range of positions and senior roles with leading organisations such as Canon, Lanier, AGL, Bendix, ME Bank, National Australia Bank and RMIT University. He has taught and lectured on a sessional basis in marketing at Swinburne University in Melbourne and managed multi million dollar marketing budgets. He is also a qualified pilot with nearly 200 hours flying time. Currently he is Head of Marketing at Freudenberg Household Products (FHP) managing the Vileda and Ansell (glove) brands.
