Motivational Speaking

John has spent the last 18 years in outdoor pursuits ranging from hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing and skiing. He has climbed extensively through out Victoria and in New Zealand as part of his climbing apprenticeship.

In 2003 he climbed the highest mountain in New Zealand (Mt Cook – 3,745 meters) less than 12 months before being introduced to rock climbing and in 2006 reached 6,900 meters on Mt Pumori Nepal (opposite Mt Everest) but abandoned his summit bid to assist in the life saving rescue of two Sherpas and one climber. On May 25, 2010, John climbed to the highest point on Earth (Mt Everest) at 8848 meters.

On most weekends you will find John either rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, cycling or exploring some of Victoria’s most remote areas.

John has worked as volunteer mentor for the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) through their Bright Sparks mentoring program since 2006. He has devoted his personal time to help young people to achieve their career goals by using a variety of techniques including goal setting, visualisation methods, effective conflict management, improved communication skills and pro-active career management.

He has worked in marketing, communications and sales for the last 15 years and held a range of roles and positions with leading organisations such as Canon, AGL, Bendix, ME Bank, National Australian Bank and RMIT. He has taught and lectured on a sessional basis in marketing at Swinburne University in Melbourne. He is also a qualified pilot with nearly 200 hours flying time. Currently he is Head of Marketing at Freudenberg Household Products (FHP) managing the Vileda and Ansell (glove) brands.
